The visit to Australia of the Dali Lama this week has been all the rave it seems. Not only did all the media have their go of it but also some of the sketch comedy programs did as well.
The reason I mention this is that I remembered something I saw whilst paying Risky a visit a while back. It was a show by Penn & Teller entitled ‘Bullshit’, which I think may be properly written all in capitals but that’s not my point.
You see they seemed to think that the Dali Lama was a bit steaming pile o’Bullshit himself. It had something to do with the ancient system of crime and punishment in Tibet, which I’ll get back to later.
So I did a quick Google search that required me to flip past over 400 entries before I struck gold and found a page that wasn’t posted by some lama-kissing sycophant that had been totally taken in by the Lama’s whole peace on earth thing.
I won’t repeat what I found here but I will point you to the site since you all deserve the truth. The truth that until the Lama met with some rather influential persons in the US of A he never once felt or expressed a single iota of concern or remorse for anyone anywhere least of all warfare and human suffering. Rather he was quite content to sit high in his temple and supp off the decadent excesses his position entitled him to whilst seeking his own personal enlightenment. Yes it is true. The physical only concerned him so far as his physical body had to last long enough for him to achieve enlightenment so that he could himself become a Buddha.
Back to Penn & Teller and you start to wonder if the whole peace on earth thing, especially the whole free Tibet ‘from China’ thing isn’t just part of the whole ‘cold war’ thing. After all, China is communist right…
Well of course they have billions of people all receiving wages that make it impossible for them to ever get anywhere. It’s so terrible, no unemployment and no starvation. I’m shocked. Plus OMFG due process and reduced sentences for the remorseful. Where will it all end? Is it really so bad that instead of outright lying to the public in order to get and remain elected they just put someone in a job where they do their damnedest to improve the lot of their own people.
Is that so terrible? Does it matter what form good governance takes? Don’t all forms of governance suffer from the failings of men (and women)?
Nuff said.
